Join Kari and Michelle for a deeply relaxing and restorative practice designed to help your nervous system adjust to seasonal change.    

Class features a simple Yin and Restorative yoga practice, during which Kari and Michelle will offer nurturing hands-on work inspired by trainings in Cranio Sacral Therapy. Feel first-hand the power of more quiet practices of yoga. Kari will guide you through a series of long stays in yin and restorative poses. As you learn to relax the body into the moment, through support from props and mindful awareness to sensation, the mind becomes more attentive to the body. Beneath the typical thought patterns and through the body's language of sensation lives our inner wisdom... a place that knows what's right for you and how to live healthily. In this practice Kari and Michelle will spend quality time working with each student in gentle touch that encourages the body into progressive relaxation.

A skateboarding + yoga retreat for women who want to overcome their fears so that they feel strong and comfortable in their bodies.

All experience levels and abilities!

The event will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. where you will sign in and meet other attendees. Then we will have with a gentle yoga session with Kari Jacobsen to anchor into our bodies and stretch them in preparation for skateboarding.

Following the yoga session, we’ll take a break for tasty vegan lunch (with gluten-free options) and refreshing drinks. Event Creator, Maya Henry will talk about overcoming and getting comfortable with our fear, all to prepare you to get suited up and ready for your group skateboarding lesson.

This is a small, intimate event where you will get plenty of personalized attention.

  • 75-min group skateboarding lesson with instructors from Skate Like a Girl Bay Area

  • Access to safety equipment and skateboard should you need to borrow them

  • 30-min yoga class led by Bay Area resident, yoga teacher, mechanical engineer and skater Kari Jacobsen

Need a getaway in the middle of winter to relax, do yoga and be surrounded by nature? Dear friends Theresa Briggs and Kari Jacobsen co-lead this yoga and relaxation retreat at Costa Rica's Iguana Lodge for the sixth year in a row.

At the Iguana Lodge, a private paradise on the lush Osa Peninsula, monkeys swing through the trees while we practice yoga. Hammocks are on every porch and the food is the most colorful, delicious bounty you could imagine.  This really is a special place, which is why we (and several students) have been coming for the last four years.

Getting here
Book a roundtrip flight to San Jose International (SJO).  From SJO, book connecting flights to Puerto Jimenez (Nature Air or Sansa), typically $200.

Kari and Melissa are back this Fall with more sound infused yin yoga bliss! Unravel your physical tension through long mindful "stays" in a blend of yin inspired restorative yoga postures that in-tune with the season of Fall. Then, lie back and feel a deep calm as you are immersed by the cleansing tones and vibrations of Paiste planetary gongs and quartz crystal singing bowls. 

Feel your body relax, reduce your stress, balance your nervous system, effortlessly experience meditative states, and create space for clarity to deal with emotional issues such as anxiety or depression.

Sound Baths are also a great way to introduce yourself to the practice of meditation, or to expand upon/deepen your already existing practice.
